GigaSpaces Version 15.0 set to operationalize and optimize machine learning; gain actionable insights from data

GigaSpaces announced this week availability of GigaSpaces Version 15.0, including InsightEdge Platform and XAP, to operationalize and optimize machine learning with the required speed, scale, accuracy and management tools. GigaSpaces Version 15.0 powers machine learning operations (MLOps) initiatives, helping enterprises maximize the business value derived from big data. 


Deploying machine learning models in production remains a major challenge for many enterprises. The Gartner Accelerate Your Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Journey Using These DevOps Best Practices says that, “according to the 2019 Gartner CIO Survey, AI and ML continue to be viewed as the No. 1 game-changing technology by CIOs. However, most organizations underestimate how long it will take to move AI and ML projects into production.”

GigaSpaces Version 15.0 introduces a new enterprise-grade monitoring and administration tool, Ops Manager, that provides visibility into the components of systems running models including logs, inputs, outputs and exceptions, using different performance visualization techniques. 

The Ops Manager enables continuous monitoring of machine learning pipelines, starting at the cluster level and drilling through to individual services so users can maintain accurate data models and ensure that problems are resolved before they affect overall performance. 

The new AnalyticsXtreme Batch Indexing included in GigaSpaces InsightEdge Version 15.0 optimizes and automates data access and storage with the added ability to move data between the more frequent (cold data) access and infrequent (archive data) access tiers on data lakes and data warehouses.  


The performance of ML models is enhanced since frequently accessed cold data can be retrieved 80 times faster directly from data lakes and processing costs are reduced as data access patterns change. 

GigaSpaces Version 15.0 also provides a native smart space client in Kubernetes that supports remote CRUD operations, task execution, and event-driven analytics providing high throughput and fast serialization, as well as automatic load balancing. Writing and updating of data without a predefined schema allows easy changes to the data model, while ensuring compatibility with JDBC and BI tools so code can be integrated more reliably and faster with lower administrative overhead.

Abside Networks debuts new private LTE user device powered by Sequans’ Cassiopeia LTE-advanced chip platform

Sequans Communications announced that Abside Networks has introduced its second end user device based on Sequans’ Cassiopeia LTE-advanced technology.  The Ravelin Gen3 uE is a Class 1 FR1 uE designed to operate in specialized, non-3GPP frequency LTE networks and Sequans modified its Cassiopeia technology to allow operation on non-standard frequencies. 


The rugged design of the Ravelin Gen3 uE combined with the customizations of Sequans have resulted in a high-performance solution that is now available to Abside’s private LTE customers. The Ravelin Gen3 uE is a highly integrated, multi-band product designed to replace the non-homogenous technologies currently used in defense, PMR, and private network ecosystems.

The Abside Networks’ Ravelin Gen3 uE is the second device to come to mass market via the Abside/Sequans collaboration. The Ravelin Gen3 a high power (+1Watt / +30 dBm) ruggedized IP54, extended temperature (70℃) uE operating across multiple non-3GPP bands in either FDD or TDD modes and supporting LTE standard bandwidths of 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, and 20 MHz. Ravelin Gen3 is also designed to counter interferences from challenging radio environments. 

In addition, Ravelin Gen3 is fully interoperable with Bastion, the Abside eNodeB infrastructure that also supports non-3GPP LTE frequency ranges of 1780 to 1850 MHz, 2200 to 2300 MHz, and 4400 to 5000 MHz for a combination of more than 760 MHz of total addressable spectrum across 16 LTE bands. 


The Ravelin Gen3 peak data rates are DL 150 Mbps with 2X2 MIMO, and UL 50 Mbps with 1X2 MIMO. The Ravelin Gen3 is 73mm x 34mm x 148mm and ~750 gr.

The Ravelin-G is based on Sequans’ Cassiopeia LTE Cat 6 Platform, a member of Sequans’ StreamrichLTE product family for high performance devices. The work with Abside is one of the development Sequans has undertaken as part of its Custom Technology Solutions initiative where Sequans experts have addressed some difficult communications challenges. 

In addition to private network LTE, Sequans has adapted its technology for projects in aviation, transportation, satellite, and government.

Greenliant adds SD and microSD industrial memory cards to ArmourDrive lineup to boost efficiency, performance

Greenliant has expanded its ArmourDrive portfolio with high reliability Secure Digital (SD) and microSD industrial memory cards. Built with advanced 3D NAND in 3-bit-per-cell (TLC) and 1-bit-per-cell (SLC) configurations, SD and microSD ArmourDrive products offer endurance options of 3K (PX Series) and 30K (EX Series) program-erase (P/E) cycles, respectively. 



Benefits of SD and microSD ArmourDrive include industrial temperature that operates between -40 and +85 degrees celsius; high endurance that reaches up to 30K P/E cycles (EX Series); high performance that supports UHS I-104 ultra high bus speed mode; rugged providing resistance to shock (1500G), vibration (20G) and water (IPX7 rating); and achieving over 3 million hours for Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)


SD and microSD ArmourDrive EX Series cards with SLC configurations are available in capacities from 8 GB to 64 GB, and PX Series cards with TLC configurations are offered from 32 GB to 256 GB. UHS Speed Class 10 and SD Specification 6.10 compliant, SD and microSD ArmourDrive cards reach up to 95/85 MB/s sequential read/write performance. 



These memory cards provide reliability, stability and removability, making them ideal for a range of demanding and space-constrained applications, such as handheld data loggers and scanners, professional video and photo cameras, portable medical diagnostic tools, ticket and vending machines, transportation diagnostics, telematics, test and measurement equipment, surveillance and industrial automation systems.



Greenliant is currently shipping 32, 64, 128 and 256 GB SD and microSD ArmourDrive PX Series industrial memory cards and expects to start production shipments of the EX Series in December of this year.

Menlo Security now part of VMware SD-WAN security technology partner program to provide secure cloud transformation

Cloud security company Menlo Security has announced a new integration with VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud, which offers flexible enterprise SD-WAN architecture. 


The solution delivers Secure Cloud Transformation, which optimizes and secures local Internet breakouts and enables global low latency access to the Internet and business-critical SaaS applications for an enterprise’s entire local and remote workforce. The integration is available immediately to all VMware SD-WAN customers.




VMware SD-WAN customers have simplified their branch office networking and optimized application performance over the Internet. Secure Cloud Transformation, powered by isolation, allows companies to improve security control and visibility across their SD-WAN deployment.


Moving to SD-WAN requires an enterprise to move their security to the cloud since user traffic is not backhauled to a central security stack. Menlo Security Cloud Platform allows users to go directly to the Internet, while ensuring consistent and robust security controls, whether they are connecting from HQ, remote offices, on the road or in a coffee shop.


Menlo Security’s customers include some of the largest enterprises and government agencies. The company’s cloud security platform currently processes more than 500 million web requests per day.
